These are the last gifts I have to blog about until I make something new that is lol. These were for a secret santa swap I was a part of in the girls shed where we do patchwork. There is a needlecase, a pincushion and a sewing roll (similar to a crayon roll), I will link to them when I can find the links as they are all on my broken laptop.

So this next quilt I made for my mam and is the same design as the one in my previous post....I LOVE the colours in this and am glad my mam does too. This panel took some detective work to find online as spotlight no longer had any left and I didn't know the name of it hehe.

I called this next one Chains of the Orient and to be honest I originally was making it for me as I am in love with the fabric used in it. Luckily for me I still have a teensy bit left so will have to find the right pattern to use it in. I decided this was perfect for my sister and she is loving it which is great too!

I hope that everyone had a fabulous christmas and is going to have a happy and safe new years.

I have found it a little hard to blog lately with no internet at home, but trust I have been reading all your posts on my mobile phone :)

Now that Christmas is over I can finally show you all the things I have been working on the last few months :-)

This one I called Summer Windows and I made it for my nanna and grandad back in victoria. I thoroughly enjoyed making this and just winged it with the pattern. I found a pattern on the Michael Miller website and used it to make this one. I used a panel called Summer Days by Michael Miller and chopped it up to make this.

This panel was from spotlight and all the co-ordinating fabric was there too. I quilted around the wings and the clouds on the panel and stitched a 1/4 inch from the seam on a couple of the borders.

I will have to add the other quilts I made in another post so stay tuned :)

Well I have been missing on the blogging front for a couple of reasons. First is because I no longer have the net at home so can only get on, on my mobile phone or at the in laws house. Secondly all I have been making is Christmas presents and for obvious reasons cant show them on here until after Christmas. And lastly being the Christmas season I have just been SUPER busy doing this and that....

So I am still around, loving reading everyones Christmas posts and will hopefully be back with some lovely things to show once Christmas is over.

This week my creative space involves making something for myself. I have been soooo busy over the last few months making Christmas gifts, which I am happy to say are almost complete, only some binding to finish now :-)

I fell in love with these fabrics the moment I saw them and purchased them without a plan. I was going to do a crazy four patch but when I made a few blocks up they didnt look right....too busy. So they have turned into pinwheels and will become a nice light weight summer throw I think.

My creative space this weeks has kept me busy quilting and adding binding to this quilt....and I'm afraid thats all you'll see of it until after Christmas.....then I shall have lots to show lol

It has also included some gorgeous.....I mean...MORE gorgeous fabric from America. More of the Michael Miller Fairy Frost range.....plus a Christmas Fairy panel and I also got a Summer Days panel which I've cut into and creating a gift for someone special :-)

Oh and of course miss Privy had to get in on the shot....testing out the fabric by walking on it....cant blame her, its lovely to touch hehe.

I have a few projects on the run at the moment....

The needlecase you can see is for a secret santa I am part of.....they don't take long to whip up, are fantastic and you can find them here.

You can also see those triangles behind the needlecase.....they are part of a big project to make a quilt for my bed....its one I am taking time with as I am going to make 2......so that black back is Full of everything I need for that, minus batting and backing fabric of course.

I got my very very first fabric order from the US last week and I just have to say....wow....I am in lurrrrvveee!!!

I got the some of the Michael Miller Fairy Frost selection (have got more coming) which is below....

And the white is gorgeous...all sparkly, terrible picture but its ace!

I also got a Cornflower Fairy panel which I could just look at forever....so pretty, don't you think?

So its official....I have a Michael Miller fabric crush....mmmmm it could be dangerous hehe cant wait for my others to arrive....more green! I just love green.

And while I was sewing today this was my gorgeous boy doing some stamping and drawing....

This is my practise piece of fabric and my first ever attempt at proper stippling. I cant show what I was practising for as its a Christmas gift, however I cannot wait to give it a go again as I quite enjoyed it. I do have a new appreciation for those that FMQ though, my wrists were quite sore after stippling a small project!

Well I had this grand plan to make a crumb quilt (Here) as I thought it would be fun but I started collecting crumbs and tonight realised I had two garbage bags full of tiny bits of fabric. So I have limited space in this house and decided I'm not really sure I want to make one so I cleaned up my small stash and OMG it felt good to declutter it all. I am disappointed that I got everyone to save their scraps for nothing as they are all gone now, but I felt I didn't have the time, patience or room to do a quilt like that yet. I know....excuses excuses haha.

Anyways, its been quiet on this blog lately as I have been madly working on Christmas presents (only 63 days away can you believe it) and cant show anything I have been doing in fear someone might see their gift lol.

So I shall hopefully be back in when I can with something to show!!

Some Sunday Stitching

I have been sewing away happily since getting my new machine and thought I'd get a couple more Christmas presents out of the way. I am making a few cooking sets for some friends and decided reversible aprons would be the go. I have never sewn clothing or anything similar before and to my surprise I did enjoy making this. I don't think I would do clothes as such but more aprons....for sure :-)

I have another all cut out and ready to sew, might do that this afternoon.

My darling wonderful fiance surprised me yesterday with my very own sewing machine :) Its a Brother NX200 QE and I just love it....I have been eyeing it off for some time and it runs like a dream.

Its so good to have my own machine, I have been borrowing an old Janome which is a fabulous machine but didn't have blanket stitch which I really needed.

Lots of Love to Damien, you sure know how to make a girl happy!

Double Hourglass Blocks

Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew blogged a super easy tutorial for Double Hourglass (Found HERE) blocks today and I decided to give it a go. Well I'm in love....the tutorial was so very easy to follow and very quick to put together. I got these cut, sewn and pressed in 2 hours (in between watching Law and Order hehe).

I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet, however I plan on using my scrap materials over time to make a nice colourful quilt.

I am also going to use this pattern with some fabric I was given and black for a bedspread as we are currently using my first quilt the Spring Bee Quilt, and whilst I love it and it takes pride on my bed, it is a touch juvenile for me.....part of me wishes I could part with it and pass it on to someone....but am still not sure as it was my first attempt at quilting/patchwork lol. Anyways I will do a post on my progress of that bedspread as it comes along.

I have also been busy on some other projects....finished another christmas present but cant post that incase the special someone see's it hehe.

I was a bit bored tonight so I decided to made up some quick pillow cases to go with my Spring Bee Quilt. They aren't perfect and many mistakes but they do the trick.

I will have to get myself a new iron as mine has died tonight :-( Probably why I had some trouble making it as I couldnt press it as I went.

Another present finished :) YAY! This is the playmat I mentioned in my last post....hopefully my nephew will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it for him. Now just to pop it away somewhere safe so that Caleb doesn't find it before Christmas hehe

Stitching up a storm

I have been a busy girl getting some christmas presents started. I have finished one lap quilt and also have almost completed a playmat for my nephews christmas present, will post photo's when its finished.

I cheated a little with this beautiful lap quilt, my MIL helped alot as she started it then offered it to me to finish as she did not want it. So I have added some borders, backed it with fleece and finished it off with a pink binding. I just love the colours in it and its soooo soft with the fleece.

I also gave these needlecases a whirl and must say they are soooooo practical. The only thing I changed was I made the tabs a little longer which seemed to work well. I have made a couple of them and they are so quick and easy!!!

Okay so I have been MIA from posting on here much lately....in fact I have been MIA from sewing for a couple of weeks. Life seems to have got super busy and I haven't had much time to just sit and sew....hopefully that will change soon!

So, in the absence of my sewing, I will share a few pics of fabric that will eventually be made into christmas presents :) And that is all I am saying about it lol

I have also been working on my own quilt which is coming together quite nicely. This is the first time I have followed a pattern and I am taking my time with it and enjoying it alot. So here is a little preview of what I have done....will be excited to have this one finished as I just love the bright colours of it!

21st Birthday

My cousins girlfriend is turning 21 and is hosting a Fluro party this weekend....we will be all decked out in fluro gear, I even made some fluro head scarfs to wear....not too shabby hahaha.

Anyways, I put a sneak peek a while back of what I was making and here it is....Its a lap quilt for people to sign at her party so she has it as a keepsake. I just love the colours and the patterned fabric is beautiful. It is a very similar design to the Monster Truck Madness quilt I made Caleb.

I embroidered her name and birthday on it too, although I wish I had used a different thread for her birthday.....we were trying out verigated (spelling is shocking) threads and I wasn't completely happy with it.

Just a closer shot of the fabrics and embroidered flowers :)

All wrapped and ready to go, even with fluro ribbon to match the party theme. I also included some fabric markers too. Was a very easy gift to put together and alot of fun.

Anyways so Happy Birthday Kristy, I hope you like it!! =)

In my mail box yesterday was a special delivery.

Thank you to the wonderful Jen from I was told to get a hobby! who made this bag, tissue holder and cosmetics bag.....I cannot begin to describe how beautifully made it is and all the little pockets and key holder inside is perfect! This is definately a bag that will get used!

Just came back to add, even though it isn't pictured, Jen also made me a coin purse which I found in a pocket this morning! Lovely :)

Meet Privy....(pr. pr-ivy) This is the latest addition to our family and newest friend to Caleb. He has been nagging us for about 3 months for a cat and is very chuffed with her now she is here. She is settling in very well which is great!

I am off to the post office on monday to send of these 3 dammit dolls.....I like them much better than my first attempt. They aren't perfect but they will do the trick. I did however have to make 3 as the person I made one for, she has two little girls and guaranteed they would pinch it on their mummy, so now they will have one of their own lol

It gave me a chance to use some of the fabric I picked up on clearance a little while ago. The pink floral doesn't do very well in the machine on a zigzag stitch but was fine with a straight stitch. This little project also gave me an appreciation for those who hand-sew. I am not a fan of it at all and I am so glad I have a sewing machine even if it is on loan until I buy my own! lol

Gee I have done enough posting on here for one day.....best be off to tidy up the house then into bed.

I am also a very very lucky girl as my partner Damien bought me Wii Sports Resort....its soooo good. Just need a couple more of the sensors and all will be great to play with friends!!

I want to make a Dammit doll for a friend so this morning I decided to try one and see how I went. This is the end result....

I am not so sure on the eyes and mouth, they look freaky to me. I used felt for these...I am happy with the way the hair turned out but think I will stitch eyes and mouth on the next one instead.

Caleb is throwing this one all around the house and said that she was brave while I was zewing her hehe.

I am hoping to work on my quilt a bit this weekend so I actually have something to show everyone soon!

Busy Busy Busy

I have been busy the last week or two and haven't been sewing as much as I would like....which would be alot so its probably a good thing hahaha.

Today I went over to MIL's to help her and her friend with her quilting machine. And after a couple of hours we figure out what we were doing and how to get it going nicely.....will take some practice I think.

I have been working on another quilt and have finished all the blocks, I just need to put it together and add borders....and I will have my first attempt at applique.....I cant wait. Don't know if I'll be saying that once its done though lol Will put some pics up when it is at least pieced together.

Caleb (my little guy) has been a gem when I am sewing and often will play his cars or watch a movie. He will even get MIL's toy sewing machine and pretend to help with some "Zewing" which is what he calls it...."Mum are you zewing today?".....Very cute.

Anyways, that is my update and I hope to at least have some new pics to show by the end of the week.

Caddy's Blanket

So my 3.yo son Caleb has been asking me to make him a blanket for his special teddy Caddy. I finally got to it and quickly put one together for him including a matching pillow. Its not perfect but apparently Caddy likes it very much and Caleb is chuffed. It also gave me a chance to try out a bit of stippling.....

Finally, from what started as a lap size quilt and turned into a queen size quilt, I finished my very first ever project!! Its a log cabin design and I am soooo happy with the way it turned out plus I love the colours of it. Very spring!!

These two blocks below are my favourite bee designs from the entire quilt!

Now looking at the pictures I think I may need to go give it a good iron!! lol

Thanks to sue for showing me what to do and letting me use your embroidery machine!

Now I am all good to start my next project which I am a tad bit excited about hehe.

A sneak preview of things to come =)

Okay so this morning I started a new project, and got it to near finishing stage within a couple of hours. All I need to do is quilt and bind it and it will be complete. As its a present for someone though I am only showing a sneak peek until they recieve it hehehe

I am in love with the fabric so made sure I got extra for "my stash" or "just in case" lol

I am going to start the binding on my BIG quilt tonight, so hopefully will have pics up of that soon.....it will feel good once its all finished.

My First Finished Quilt =)

So I started patchwork a few weeks ago and can fairly say I am addicted!! I just love it, would do it all day if I could.

I have so far finished one quilt for my son, he loves his monster trucks and kindly requested a quilt with these on it. Luckily for me my MIL has an embroidery machine and I was able to embroider some great trucks for the centre pieces.

Silly me didn't use a pattern for this quilt but even still I think it turned out well and I am pretty proud that I was able to do it seeing as I haven't been sewing long.

I also made a cushion to match it for him. Its a nice light quilt thats perfect for him to cuddle up on the couch with or use when we do an early morning trip in the car!

So here it is.....my first finished quilt!
